The first edition of the Technological Universities Youth Conference took place from September 17 to 21 at Youth City in Abu Qir, under the patronage of His Excellency, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Mohamed Ayman Ashour. The event welcomed a distinguished assembly of leaders in education, sports, and industry, including Professor Ghada Basyouni, acting President of Saxony University of Applied Sciences and Technology, alongside Professor Moussa, Dean of the Mechatronics Engineering Department, and Dr. Aya Khalil, Director of Accreditation and Quality.
The conference opened with a keynote from Professor Ashour, highlighting the crucial role of technological education in preparing youth for the future and its impact on advancing industrial and service sectors. Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, also addressed the attendees, stressing the importance of youth in driving progress. International participation included the South Korean Ambassador, Kim Yong-hyun, whose speech underscored the ongoing collaboration between Egypt and South Korea in technology and education.
Key figures such as Minister of Labor Mohamed Gibran and Admiral Ahmed Khaled emphasized the transformative power of technology in job creation, urban development, and infrastructure. University presidents from Egypt’s technological institutions also took part in various discussions throughout the event.
A highlight of the conference was the exhibition of student innovation projects from technological universities, demonstrating advancements in technology application across multiple sectors. University presidents received commemorative shields for their contributions, and outstanding students were honored for their achievements in technology and innovation.
Professor Ghada Basyouni led a panel discussion on “The Role of Technology in Developing Industry and Services,” where she emphasized how technological education empowers youth to realize their potential and influence the world. She stressed that technology is the language of the modern era and its rapid evolution presents immense opportunities for youth to excel.
Professor Basyouni also praised the growing collaboration between universities and industry, linking education with labor market demands and broadening professional opportunities for students.
As the conference concluded, participants reiterated the significance of such events in steering youth toward innovation and enhancing the role of technological education in shaping a prosperous future for upcoming generations.
